ZEISS at photokina 2016: Photography Hands-on!
Visitors to the ZEISS booth at photokina 2016, the world’s biggest photography trade show, can extensively test the camera lenses – of course including several new products.
photokina 2016, the world’s biggest photography trade show, is just around the corner. And ZEISS is of course also there. This year in Cologne from September 20-25 it’s all about the experience: touching, testing, asking questions. At our booth (hall 2.2, C018), visitors are welcome to test the ZEISS camera lenses and explore the world of photography in a playful way inside a mega lens.
The return of the mega lens – and the North Sea as testing ground
Our ZEISS lenses for still and cine cameras can be extensively tested on location. For this purpose, different cameras from ZEISS partners Sony and ARRI are available. Cameras from Canon1 and Nikon2 can also be used. Visitors who want to bring their own camera can compare the ZEISS lenses with their own focal lengths. To offer several great motifs, we have built a North Sea landscape with a lighthouse, dunes and canopied beach chairs at our 800-square-meter stand. At the booth you can also learn more about the partnership between Sony and ZEISS, which began 20 years ago and continues to create benefits for our customers to this day.
“At photokina 2016 we at ZEISS want to make it possible for visitors to experience our brand, and we want to familiarize them with the fascination of optics in its many facets.”
Winfried Scherle, Executive Vice President Consumer Optics Business Group at ZEISS
An enormous walk-through lens – last seen at photokina 2012 – celebrates its comeback with a new livery at the booth. This mega lens is not only ideally suited as a photographic motif; inside the lens, visitors will learn interesting things about the world of optics: How do different focal lengths impact an image? What exactly does depth of field mean and what effects can you achieve with it? What sort of stresses and strains does a ZEISS lens have to withstand? How can a special coating on the lens improve a photograph?
New lenses, smartphone photography and diving into virtual reality
At photokina 2016 we present five new lenses: the Milvus family is expanded with three new focal lenghts (ZEISS Milvus 2.8/15, Milvus 2.8/18, Milvus 2/135) to now nine lenses. The Loxia 2.4/85 for mirrorless full-frame cameras from Sony adds a lens in the telephoto range to the Loxia family. And the compact and light cine lens ZEISS Lightweight Zoom LWZ.3 21-100mm/T2.9-3.9 T* is an allround lens that is especially interesting for budget sensitive projects. Of course, all the new lenses can also be put throught their paces.
For smartphone photographers who want to get more out of their smartphone camera the accessory lenses ExoLens® with optics by ZEISS could be interesting: the three focal lengths can be mounted on an iPhone®3 using a bracket. The virtual reality glasses ZEISS VR ONE Plus can also be tested at our stand. When combined with a smartphone, these glasses take visitors into virtual worlds with the help of 360-degree videos and games. Visitors who are also interested in ZEISS’ other business areas can use the i.Profiler® plus from ZEISS to have their vision analyzed. Additionally, nature lovers can inform themselves about ZEISS binoculars and spotting scopes and test these products both at the ZEISS stand and in the “ZOOM” area outside.
During the entire trade fair, a team of experts from ZEISS will be available to answer questions about ZEISS products, photography in general and optics.
For all those who cannot attend Photokina, ZEISS will report live from the ZEISS stand on Facebook (www.facebook.com/carlzeisslenses), Twitter (www.twitter.com/carlzeisslenses) and Instagram (www.instagram.com/carlzeisslenses).
