ZEISS Milvus 2/35 – Review by Jim Fisher
by Jim Fisher
ZEISS is working on transitioning some of its Classic SLR lenses to a more modern design. The Milvus 2/35 ($1,117) is one of those, a cosmetic update to the Distagon T* 2/35. Like its predecessor, this 35mm Milvus captures images with edge-to-edge crispness, even at f/2, and is a purely manual focus lens. The new design is a bit more modern and discrete, with an all-black look, and adds the benefit of protection against dust and splashes. The lens isn’t perfect—it shows some barrel distortion and corners are dim when shot at f/2 and f/2.8—but it’s a strong performer and a fine choice for photographers who prefer the feel of a purely mechanical manual focus lens.
